MLK Day of Service

We will have a wide variety of social action and community service activities in the Or Hadash sanctuary to work on in observance of MLK Jr. Day of Service. There will be something for members and friends of all ages. There are TWO particular activities we need to draw your attention to IN ADVANCE.

An intergenerational workshop for 7th - 12th Graders and adults

We need a minimum of TEN people in order to make this training happen!

Care Packages for Homeless People

The Prosdor Class (7th & 8th Grades) has proposed we pack Care Packages on Jan 16th MLK Day that families will be able to keep in our cars to give out when we see someone who is homeless. Making Care Packages depends on our being able to buy supplies in advance.

  • Every 100 bags will cost approximately $1300.
  • Those who wish to can contribute money:
  • On the Or Hadash website, select 'Other' and indicate 'Care Packages' or 'MLK Day' in the Comments.
  • Bring cash or a check to school this Sunday and give it to Melissa in the office. Make sure the contribution includes your name and the amount.

We have ALSO made a Wish List on Amazon.

  • If you prefer not to patronize Amazon, feel free to buy equivalent items elsewhere and let Rabbi Erin know so we take the item off the Amazon Wish List.
