Shedding New Light on Jewish Traditions

Erev Shabbat & Shavuot services followed by Tikkun Leyl Shavuot

Please join us for our Shavuot observance that will be on the second night of Shavuot – Friday, May 26th. It will be the service and program portion of the Shabbat Havurah evening already scheduled for that night. All congregants are invited and welcome at this dinner, but you must rsvp to Barbara at weismanbarbara109@gmail.com. For those not attending the dinner, the program will start at 7:30 pm with a short Shabbat and Holiday service. A festive Oneg will follow with special holiday dairy treats. At 8:15 pm there will be a story slam based on the theme of "A Moment I Felt I Received Wisdom.” All are invited to participate! At 9:00 pm there will be a choice of three study sessions where you can learn about three Jewish personalities and their contribution to Jewish thought and practice:

    1.  Rabbi Elyse Wechterman will discuss Rachel Luzzatto Morpurgo, a Proto Jewish feminist of the Italian Renaissance.

     2.  Robert Goldberg-Alberts will discuss the Biblical personality Ruth, as told in the Book of Ruth.

     3.  Rabbi Alanna will discuss Rashi, the famous Medieval Bible Commentator.

Our evening will conclude with the chanting of the Ten Commandments, traditional Torah reading for the holiday of Shavuot, outdoors if weather permits. Please note that this event will be hybrid, on the same link as Friday night services. If you have questions, please contact Manny Rosenberg at manor72@verizon.net.
