Shedding New Light on Jewish Traditions

Book Club meeting

To all who enjoy a good read, discussion and camaraderie,

The members of the book club havurah invite you to join us this fall as we read, explore, and discuss the world of Jewish books.  All genres by Jewish authors or on Jewish themes are possible — literature, non-fiction, comedy, mysteries, historical fiction — books are chosen by group discussion and consensus. Our next meeting will be Monday pm, Oct. 23rd, at 7:30 on zoom.  The book we will be discussing is "The Assistant" by Bernard Malamud.  This is the story of a grocer in postwar Brooklyn, who after being robbed and wanting a better life for his family, hires an assistant who is ambivalent about Jews and who brings moral dilemmas into the grocer's life. "This novel evokes an immigrant world of cramped circumstances and great expectations."

We hope you will join us for warm, lively, and engaging discussions. We look forwared to welcoming new members as well as previous members whom we haven't seen in a while and who are missed.
