Scholar-in-Residence Weekend

This year's Scholar-in-Residence (SIR) is Arie Kaplan, an award-winning author, graphic novelist, comedy writer, and lecturer. 

The weekend activities consist of:

Friday 4/5/19:  Scholar-in Residence dinner (prior RSVP requested)* 6:30-7:30 pm, followed by 45 minute service and 1 hour talk (approx.) on “WIZARDS OF WIT: HOW JEWS REVOLUTIONIZED COMEDY

Saturday, 4/6/19: 8:45-9:00am (bagels and cream cheeses)(prior RSVP requested)*; 9-10:30am Torah Study topic is “FROM KRAKOW TO KRYPTON: A HISTORY OF JEWS AND COMIC BOOKS.” Service 10:30am-12noon, and lunch (prior RSVP requested)* 12-1 pm.

Sunday, 4/7/19: Three age-appropriate cartooning workshops with conversations on the topic of Jewish roots of Superheroes and/or comics and film with SMILE school students and their families.

*RSVPs for meals were taken through April 1st at noon, those wishing to attend meals now must call Sharon Apple at 215-836-5648.

Everyone is invited to attend all services and presentations without RSVP!
