Giving Opportunities

Renewing and Sustaining Or Hadash

In 2011, the Development Committee and the Board of Directors instituted an annual fund campaign, The Annual Campaign to Renew and Sustain Or Hadash, to help support the day-to-day operations of the synagogue, instead of holding other fundraising activities. We, like all other non-profit institutions, are in an economic and social environment where membership dues are not sufficient to properly and securely fund our operations. Therefore, each year, the Campaign commits to raising a certain percentage of the operating budget.

Our Finance Committee, Board of Directors and administration work together so that Or Hadash continues to live within its means. We have no mortgage and no debt. We want to continue on that course into the future, while keeping membership dues affordable for existing and potential members. The Campaign also enables us to continue the rich and varied programming for people of all ages we have always offered our congregation.

While we appreciate and value all of the many and varied ways that our members give to our congregation, the Campaign is one very important one. Please consider making a donation of any amount to The Campaign to Renew and Sustain Or Hadash in order to ensure the financial stability of our congregation. Our goal is to achieve 100% participation in this Campaign so that we all demonstrate our connection to one another and our commitment to the ongoing life of our community. Participation is, in some ways, even more important than the amount you give. And, while we ask you to give generously, we ask you to give as generously as you can at a level that is sustainable for your family. Only you know what that amount is.

We hope you will help us keep our congregation on its healthy and responsible financial path.

Other Giving Opportunities

In addition to the Campaign, the Or Hadash community frequently rallies through our Social Action / Tikun Olam (SATO) committee to meet specific fundraising needs for the outside community, such as helping fill food pantries that feed those who don't have the means to feed themselves.  There are also a variety of funds at Or Hadash that have been formed to fulfill a particular need or realize a cherished value, such as Legacy for Learning, Rabbi's Discretionary Fund, Building Fund, Life Cycle Garden, Prayer Book Fund, Inclusion Fund, and the Torah Fund. There is also a General Fund which helps OH in a non-restricted way.

Please note that the Rabbi’s Discretionary Fund is a resource the Rabbi can use to assist members of the Or Hadash community or the wider community who are in need, to give gifts in celebration of simchas, and to make charitable donations to causes the Rabbi selects.  Donations can be made for any reason (examples include: to mark a death or yahrzeit, to celebrate a birth or bar mitzvah, in appreciation for rabbinic services) but the donor cannot specify the recipient or intended cause.  Donations are confidential; if you need assistance from the fund, please contact Rabbi Alanna directly.

If you would like to order one or more bricks for the Life Cycle Garden, or dedicate prayer books, please send in the applicable order form below.  You can also sponsor an oneg or kiddush – a great way to commemorate a special birthday, wedding, anniversary, new baby, graduation, etc.!  Many people also choose to be a sponsor to mark a yahrzeit. It is a way of making the Shabbat more your own and sharing your thoughts with your congregation.  Please contact our Synagogue Administrator, Nadine Canter at office@orhadash.com or 215-283-0276 for details.

The “Donate Now” button on the right to make a donation through PayPal is for non-members only and the use of PayPal is currently under review. Members should please make a donation through their ShulCloud account. Since PayPal deducts a fee from your donation amount, mailing or dropping off a check directly to Or Hadash is always preferred. Just make your check payable to Or Hadash, 190 Camp Hill Road, Fort Washington, PA 19034 and tell us in a short note what it is for.

Thank you in advance for your generosity!
