Shedding New Light on Jewish Traditions

Friday Night Shabbat Havurah

Get in on the Spirit of Shabbat at Or Hadash

It's great to take a deep breath at the end of a long week and create a separation between the week and the weekend.  That's what Friday night Shabbat rituals help us do, create a Shabbat frame of mind.  How we get to that frame of mind is probably different for each of us, but for many it may include some version of a relaxed evening meal with friends, lots of talking and kibitzing, and some Shabbatrituals.

The Friday Night Shabbat Havurah continues to be a hit!  Between 25-35 Or Hadashers come together to get that "Shabbat Feeling" during the year.  We relax, we eat, we drink, we schmooze, we sing, we pray, and we discuss.  We hope you'll join us for one or more of this year’s gatherings and join the fun!   All ages are welcome and it's just around the corner.  We start with happy hour (20 minutes), followed by dinner (we order in, about $10 per person), a short Shabbat service, and then have oneg (dessert) and a discussion/program.  RSVP requested to Alisa Belzer, alisabelzer@gmail.com.

Please join with your fellow Or Hadashers on any (or all) of five Friday nights this year when we will come together to create a Shabbat frame of mind.  All Friday Night Shabbat Havurah meetings will begin at 6:30 pm.  The dates are: Oct. 25, Nov. 22, Jan. 24, March 27 and April 24. Empty-nesters, school-age families, and everyone in between, are encouraged to participate.

To RSVP for the gathering, please contact Alisa Belzer.
