Friday Night Shabbat Havurah

April 28, 2017 - 6:30pm

Get in on the Spirit of Shabbat at Or Hadash

It's great to take a deep breath at the end of a long week and create a separation between the week and the weekend.  That's what Friday night Shabbat rituals help us do, create a Shabbat frame of mind.  How we get to that frame of mind is probably different for each of us, but for many it may include some version of a relaxed evening meal with friends, lots of talking and kibitzing, and some Shabbat rituals.

Please join with your fellow Or Hadashers on any (or all) of six Friday nights this year when we will come together to create a Shabbat frame of mind.  Empty-nesters, school-age families, and everyone in between, are encouraged to participate.

Or Hadash Film Festival - Selection #3 - "The Secrets"

May 6, 2017 - 7:30pm

The Secrets      Saturday May 6, 2017 7:30 PM

Drama about young women studying Talmud in a girls' seminary.  They come from disparate backgrounds and are joined on a mission to help an ex-convict, a woman who is dying and seeks to find forgiveness.  The setting is the ultra-spiritual city of Safed. The story revolves around the role of women in orthodoxy in Israel.  (PG 16 rating for brief nudity in a ritual bath and a fairly chaste ( and clothed) sex scene.)
