Or Hadash Gun Violence Prevention Task Force Walks To Fight Suicide

On Sunday Oct. 1st, the Or Hadash Gun Violence Prevention Task Force will participate in the Out of the Darkness Community Walk in support of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP). The walk begins at 8:30 am at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Or Hadash’s Save A Life Team will meet at 8:15 am at the Rocky statue. Please register for the walk and/or contribute to our team by going to afsp.donordrive.com/team/148568.

For anyone interested in carpooling, we will meet at 7 am at the Springfield High School parking lot on Paper Mill Road and drive to the Philadelphia Museum of Art to meet other walkers. For more information, contact Dan Schwarz.

AFSP’s goal is to decrease the rate of suicide in the United States by 20 percent by 2025. (The most recent numbers from the CDC in 2015 indicated there were more than 44,000 suicides in the United States; half of those suicides were with the use of a gun). AFSP also provides education, research, awareness and support services to those who have lost loved ones to suicide.

What better way to start the Jewish New Year and to repair the world/Tikkun Olam than to support this worthy organization and cause?
